Project Description

In addition to the development of similar models from 36 to 42 metres, this time with FloatingLife we went one step further, designing a 42-metre hull as a platform for the new 40 to 44-metre explorer range. Starting with an analysis of the weights and characteristics of the competitors, the waterlines were then studied through CFD, ensuring not only maximum performance, but also calibrating the appendages to the flow lines of the hull to increase efficiency. Bulb and centreboard have been optimised following specific requests from Andrea Pezzini, founder of FloatingLife. Furthermore, once the numerical analyses were completed, we designed the scale model of the hull in order to carry out the hauling and sea-tightness tests in the Rome Naval Dock. The studies demonstrated the effective efficiency of the modelled water lines and a sea-tightness that was definitely optimal for the type of sea these ships will have to face. Finally, we managed the order and relations with suppliers and the naval tank, carrying out the survey in the various phases of model construction and naval tank tests.
